The Great Cow Harbor 10-Kilometer Run is one of the most prestigious foot races in the country and nationally ranked. The Runner has named this race one of the top 40 races. The list included the New York City Marathon, Boston Marathon, and the Bay to Breakers. The Great Cow Harbor Run was also named one of the top 100 races in the country by Runners World.
Sponsors already include North Fork Bank, Real Torino Pasta, Piping Rock Natural Spring Water, Vytra, Lite Beer by Miller, New Balance, Good Health Natural Foods, Inc., News 12, Gatorade, Snyder's of Hanover, Aircam, and the Village of Northport.
In addition to this fine sponsorship roster, the race will again be covered by a sports channel this year and will be aired in October.
The Great Cow Harbor 10-Kilometer Run, a non-profit event, is held in cooperation with a number of community organizations. The proceeds are used to make a substantial annual contribution to Suffolk County Special Olympics. In 1999, 5,432 runners participated and over 25,000 spectators were present. This year's race is the 23rd anniversary and again we expect record participation.
